Morgan Distinguished Senior Professional Award Determined by the FASC Leadership Team, this honor is bestowed on an individual who has shown outstanding dedication and service to Florida senior centers. The first recipient of the award was Jay K. Morgan in August 2012 at the Florida Council on Aging Conference. Annual Training Workshops - Reduced Rate w/ Membership By far the best training opportunity in Florida for those who work within senior centers. Very affordable and great information is shared over a Thursday afternoon and Friday morning in early April of each year. The best part is the opportunity to network with others who work within the senior center system. Members receive reduced rates for workshop, dinner, and hotel reservations. Eligibility for Florence R. Goldmann Senior Center Award The Florence R. Goldmann Award was established in 1993 as a tribute to Flo Goldmann, FASC’s first president. It is awarded to an outstanding Senior Center of the Year whose FASC membership is current. This recognition of excellence is presented during the Florida Conference on Aging annually. • About Flo Goldmann • Past Flo Goldmann Winners Professional Leadership & Networking Membership with FASC connects you to a Florida network of professional support and innovative solutions. Ask for help, share an opinion, or get your next big idea at a workshop, training, or during a web chat. Advocacy for Senior Centers and Services Members benefit from the leadership FASC provides in representing the interest of and advocating for seniors and the aging services network. FASC coordinates and mobilizes action to improve the economic security and health of seniors and works with Florida lawmakers to protect and strengthen senior centers. Mentors for National Accreditation Among FASC members you will find senior center professionals who have completed the accreditation process and can share their experiences. Many FASC leaders serve on National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) committees and boards. FASC also has a committee of leaders who are trained to mentor senior centers going through the accreditation process. Public Relations Strategies Strategic use of public relations, publicity and social media techniques are important in today’s world, and very important in getting the word out about our senior centers. Through specially designed opportunities FASC members are able to discuss and share public relations strategies that are being used across Florida senior centers. |
